It's been such a crazy, crazy month. In the blink of an eye the million and one rehearsals we had for the musical, 3 nights of the the musical itself, youth camp and another series of choral presentations and performances are done and over. I'm so grateful to have survived through everything. I'm so grateful to have experienced it all. It's a really indescribable sensation, really. You need to have 'been there done that' to really know what in the world I'm talking about. I gave everything my all, if not more and I'm quite sure it paid off.

And I'm not even kidding with the title. Not everything about this late evening was beautiful but I'm glad it happened anyway. I'm kinda aware I've been neglecting this space quite a bit so here's an update complete with pictures ;-)

After a morning of hasty revision/whatnot and an afternoon of minor $damage$ at a thrift store I headed down to Oliver Henry's Vue Privée for the lil opening party of the new exhibition featuring around 8 local artists. Met up with GBF of course my lil darrrrling who now possesses a hottyboddy.

outfit of the night, since I changed thrice today.

Oliver's work did steal the show with the help of Utt in the most angelic curation. I thought this piece was really multi-dimensional, and with the addition of different human-form representations there's just so many ways to look at it.

There you have it - emerald-tinted nips. And nails and eyes and lips.

A snippet of information on the work below. It had a lot to do with the human life, and life in life itself. It definitely seemed like a story very candidly weaved with a red thread, but that squiggly crimson line made the connection all the more stronger.

Amazing skills, loved her style and her general theme.

film by Glenn Goei. His interpretation of a three-level/multilevel sort of portrayal of acting seemed pretty fresh.

more works by Kim Xu who did the all-things-emerald work. This 'series' mostly portrayed fashion though, e.g. Lanvin orange dress.

According to the gbf the exhibition was about translating art from a story/film or something along that line. That did set quite a fair bit of limits for the works all in all.

Last shots before we ventured off into emerald hill road in all our glorious tipsyness.

First time @ Alley Bar, great ambience and we fell in love with this ginormous mirror. Such a parisian-street feel and it made the bar interior look like it could go on forever.

Night-time chicken bites and a glass of Bellini. Gotta love peach cocktails.

I really liked the texturized wall even though it was only emulating the texture and structure of stone-on-stone. Genius. So we wandered all around, taking in the gorgeousness of the landscape and basically becoming obsessed with every architectural structure before us. Of course we did try peeking into each imperial unit but it's crazy, everytime we're about to go one step too far we end up seeing something that freaks us out big time. E.g. a tombstone right in front of the doorstep, gates being half-open, complete darkness etc. But I loved the whole little adventure anyway..

Walked all the way back to Vue Privée, did a bit of chatting & byebyes & ooh met an old girl haha and she's really sweet. She never liked school either!

Back from my unplanned hiatus... I'm so sure no one reads/looks at this site anymore hahaha fine by me.

Headed to the ArtScience Museum to check out the Dalí exhibition, among others. So amazing to literally see into the mind of a Surrealist. Another intriguing feature which I found really charming was the constant insertions of his quotes. I've always loved his quotes. It takes talent to be fantastically logical and logically fantastical at the same time.

Will upload photos taken at the various exhibitions when I have the time... maybe over the weekends. Till then. ;)

On another note, an issue I've been thinking over & over about -- what to do with my hair after I'm done with school. Shallow as hell but heck that I NEED ideas. I'm mostly interested in hair-tip tints & whole highlights & I'm most definitely not going to chop anything off. Not yet.

Opened with a such a strong piece -- textiles, check. Fringe necklace, check. Fashion turban, check. Ready to do duh thing. Modern take on The Little Red Riding Boots, much? Not forgetting her lovely cape of course.

Mind-blowing.

Such a complex take on colour-blocking. Sophistication and funk coming hand in hand.

Glitter pants for the season.

Love the intricate detailing on the sleeves.

Fish scales with a touch of an apparent suede and velvet harmony.

One of my favourites -- clean, sleek, sweet with a touch of glitter.

Love the twist on tie-dye graphics. Such a rich texture often left unnoticed by the crowd. The play on vermillion, pinks and peeks of scarlet... couldn't have imagined that in a more alluring presentation.

Overall I really enjoyed this collection... The colours and textiles introduced, the consistent synch-at-the-waist, the quality of elegance and the bold choice of textures... And of course, the turban. It just ties each outfit together so impeccably well! And I don't know about you, but the tie-dye effect never managed to catch my eye as much as the other graphics and textiles, until now. But it's surely gonna be a pretty darn long time before people really start embracing the idea of tie-dyes in bright hues as a fashion-forward wardrobe option... or not?

Amazing time with Lionel today. I understand how he felt at first and how that changed throughout the course of the day, even though we didn't manage to catch The King's Speech. Being fed up with the strangeness of our lost movie adventure we decided to spontaneously plan out the afternoon's schedule. First to Forum to look at Club 21, Club 21b, a few baby boutiques here & there... then we were off to Hilton for Lanvin, Dries Van Noten (where L fell in love with the entire interior), the new Comme where the interior lighting was too painful, and Club 21 again.

The evening saw me rushing from mall to mall collecting/ordering/getting things for mom & the fam. Ended the trip to town by getting meself some fur, lace & sequins. Absolutely love how gorgeous today turned out to be. You know... sometimes it's all about taking on the whole oh-well-let's-see-where-this-goes thing, 'cause somehow you'll just come to realize the whole beauty of it all.

Today brought me many forms of joy. Heading to town to collect my claw ring, heading off to meet Jess Ven at the airport, shopping here & there, heading back to town again, simply walking and talking, and making the best out of a very wet afternoon. Hope everyone spent Christmas day well; Saturday was definitely eventful for me. Amazing time spent in the morning just praising the Lord over and over again, in song and in prayer. I could literally feel the entire choir just being so overwhelmed with gratitude. To God, of course, for the simple promise and gift of the Saviour.

Right after service we decided to go on a road trip; none of us really felt like staying in town for Christmas this year. Immersed ourselves entirely in the gorgeous visual spread by the countryside, & took in the sea breeze that came in constant motion. All while wearing my favourite tee which provided me with 2 days of comfort.

In a couple of days' time the new year will swim into your life with a presence so great you might be blinded. Are you ready?

Hi y'all I'm back and I cannot believe I had this site on hiatus for the 10-11 days I was over at Shanghai. Market research went really well, and so did dad's business matters. Unfortunately there's going to be a pretty long halt in the development of the design release. More-than-technical reasons, kinda sucks 'cause I was really looking forward to it. I'll update you guys again. But in the meantime, I've been taking in personal orders from my tiny circle of close buddies and I've been doing some offhand, unofficial designing for them. I guess something more formal will be up and ready soon, because C, a few others and myself have big plans for that.

But anyway. Just to make up for the nearly incomprehensible block of text above I'm just gonna put in some pictures here. And there.

We also took a train to Hangzhou for reasons I don't remember. Like an evening getaway kind of thing. Sights were gorgeous.

So the trip righteously ended with a visual study of the baby sister's face, as well as our constant assurance to her that her teeth will gradually embrace a more beautiful formation.

We are seeing the Pre-Fall '11 pieces rolling in. What I am seeing this time is a much more subtle take on the usual dress cuts, which somehow provides each design an overshadow that, instead of being overpowering, actually enhances the look on the whole. In other words, Helmut Lang Pre-Fall '11 kinda just... spoke to me.

We are basically seeing about 4 different shades from the darker palette, and maybe some print here and there. But it's amazing how the drapery and skillful folds allow the eyes to naturally blend each separate piece. Not to the point of blurring, but rather a sense of colour-blocking in a more intriguing manner.

& don't you guys think Zac Posen is heading in a somewhat different direction this time round? Okay maybe 'different' is still too strong a word. But anyhow, I personally feel that he is driving his style at a more slanted angle, as compared to before. And in a more biased progression, those Blacks and Navys plainly scream WHY-SO-SERIOUS. But really. Nice silhouettes though.

On a sidenote, my little meet-up with Lionel/Bobo of BoboBaroque was filled with incredibly hilarious moments. A really lovable lil monkey, that one. A trip-on-impulse also allowed us to chance upon some background Lanvin x H&M sale right here in our little island. And everything was indeed disgustingly overpriced.

Spent the whole afternoon looking through couture-related books I had randomly chanced upon last night while packing the room, and got really inspired again. I mean, vintage evening shoes created by one of the most exclusive shoe-makers in the 1900s? Pietro Yantorny meticulously crafted handmade custom-fitted shoes for a list of elite clients. Amazement. Jeanne Lanvin's 'Rosaraie' evening dress? So typical of Lanvin's distinctive decorative aesthetic. Don't forget extravagant trains by Callot Soeurs, a romantic court presentation dress by Boué Soeurs, and a 1960s Chanel cocktail dress. I see a little Valentino-Lanvin mixture here... but of course. It's Gabrielle Chanel.

Then I decided to do a little illustration because I was too overwhelmed by the constant flow of vintage couture (in print). And also because I felt pretty down I couldn't join my cousins on their LA trip, therefore being in no mood to do anything else. Featuring a Viktor & Rolf piece, from work-in-process to completion.

So much to work on if I want to successfully pass the interview tomorrow.

How's everyone.

Today has been extremely hectic, but a nice kind of hectic. A cool kind of hectic. A kind of hectic I really enjoy. Besides unsatisfactory service at an F21 outlet I actually quite like today.

Visited a few vintage boutiques today to look for an actual vintage messenger/box bag, didn't manage to find the perfect one though. So I'll continue searching tomorrow. But while hopping from boutique to boutique, I got myself a couple of great deals. Definitely things that I'll bring along with me on my trip. Things like that headband in such a fresh orange. So even though the trip to the flea market today didn't end quite like I expected, I think today's been pretty alright. Can't wait to dress up in those pieces I just purchased.

These few days I've been too caught up with school to sit down and come up with a post. Don't even talk about standing up. All in all, I'm glad the holidays have officially started (although I'm still quite worried that things won't turn out as scheduled). Oh well, big life lessons.

I've just visited a couple of vintage stores near town which I spotted over the weekend. Mom came along and she pretty much had eyes on a couple of stone bracelets, namely topaz and sapphire. I got myself a neat olive leather ribbon hairband which couldn't be more perfect. The olive shade doesn't come out as pure in pictures; if you mentally add a darker, more subtle tone to the shade in the picture, I think you'd get it right. I also got a few canvas blouses in grey and beige shades, and tribal-esque spear necklace in liquid metal. But what really made my day was the threaded overcoat that I got. I was so glad the camera could capture the interweaving white threads, because that feature really brought out the popping chain quality. Which was the thing that drove me to purchase this. I see myself wearing this out quite alot in the following weeks. Maybe with that Alexa Chung for Madewell Iris blouse in carmine still left untouched at the back of my wardrobe + a pair of high-waisted black leather shorts. Or just a plain, long cotton maxi. We'll see.

I was thinking of getting a gal bff the Tiff&Co heart tag charm bracelet over the weekend but I didn't have the time. Then the past 2 days I've been trying to see if I could get it online and have it shipped over to Aunty Pauline's so she could bring it over to sg when she visits. So I was doing my usual browsing online & I opened NaP on a window tab & I chanced upon Aurélie Bidermann's Do Brazil charm (Pic 5) & I loved it. Bidermann's charm bracelets are classic with a bohemian vibe. That was exactly what my gal pal was like & so I can say I've made up my mind. Mother-of-pearl charms pleaaaase. I can see endless stacking possibilities here.

And just when you think you're about to drown, this certain someone will be pushing you up real hard from beneath the waters, hard enough for you to lift up your head from the ocean surface to see the skies above again. To breathe again. And one day, to swim again.

Been putting this blog post on hold for a looong time. It's been sooo bzzzh (that's my new favourite word). But anyhow, here's an update :)

Today is all about Kenneth Jay Lane don't ask me why. I know it's always talked about, but the brand's new releases on NAP really got me thinking -- he's so much more than just The Guy who "made costume jewellery cool".

My favourite pieces would me those featuring turquoise not as a decorative colour, but as the predominant essence of jewellery.

... & the list goes on. It's really amazing how the turquoise stand out so uniquely in each piece, and while you're thinking of different shades of blue and green, K Jay Lane has already gone one step further to incorporate varying shades of turquoise. Now that's being clever.

Out of all his marvelous little creations, I think I still have a tendency to lean towards the turquoise ones. Just because it's one of the colours I find appealing to an extreme. But of course, K Jay Lane's collections don't include just those. The wide variety available encompasses almost every jewellery-lover's tastes. From classy to whimsical, from grey to orange. Take your pick :)

It's been two crazy weeks. I haven't got the time to settle down and figure myself out.

But anyway, thanks for the get-well cards again :) they're lovely. It's pretty whoosh how I could've died from an overdose if not for the white powder capsules they flushed down my throat. Close shave again? :/

Anyhow, I'm better now. I don't know how I'm going to face whatever comes my way in the next 3 days but I'll pull through.

I don't know whether to love home-alone time or not. Some douche totally tried to break into the house from the backyard gate just.

Anyway, I really want exam-weeks to be over soon. Fastforwardfastforwardfastfoward

Because then it'll all be so much better. It's crazy ironic how "stop waiting, start doing" can only happen after being patient for a really long time. For me, it took 3 years (with 2 weeks left, before everything starts falling into place).

Oh wow it's been a long time since I last updated. Blame it on exam-week & health issues. Might not get to touch next week's series of tests at all. I don't really know if that's a good thing anymore, gonna have to wait and see. Anyway, styled the few outfits above for those experiencing fall... should've done this post a lot earlier but I couldn't find the right time/mood. Mixin&Matchin around with less than 30 pieces, favourite among these would definitely have to be the Miu Miu shearing-lined lace-up platform boots, Chloe Paraty in python, Lanvin leather gloves and those La Cerise sur le Chapeau fedoras.

Because I'm a more fall-accessories-over-fall-clothes person, here are my favourite boots for the season:

September 14th shows (except Badgly Mischka, Elie Tahari and Mackage). Really enjoying Jason Wu for Tse and Dennis Basso. Such balanced pieces, yet beautifully tipping over edgy & classy at the same time. Indescribable. Right now, the world's pretty much just waiting hungrily for the pieces to go on sale. I'm guessing RZ already made a run for the fresh-off-runway pieces when they were packing up backstage. Or something. I'm not surprised.
